Dear families,

What a great week at Jean Steckle P.S.! On Thursday, our students were inspired by Q-Mack and J-Box who dazzled us with tricks and amazing beatboxing skills. They reminded us, All-Stars, that we always need to try our best, believe in ourselves, be great listeners, try it again, and continue to practice, practice, and practice! Ask your child about the bench trick – it was pretty amazing!

On Friday afternoon, we had our first pep rally. Our students showed their school spirit and our pep rally squad demonstrated their great drumming and performing skills. Our dance battle was a blast too!

Thank you for a great week!

Attendance

Reminder to call or email the school when your child will be late or absent.

The safety and well-being of your child is an important concern for us, and making sure your child arrives to school safely is a responsibility we take very seriously. That is why all elementary schools have a Safe Arrival Program to ensure that each and every student arrives to school safely.

Parents and guardians have a responsibility to contact the school when a child will be late or absent.

You now have two ways to contact the school to report your child’s absence or late arrival:

  1. Call Us – Our Attendance Line can be reached by calling 519-748-1919 dialing extension #1. Include your child’s name (and spelling), grade, class and reason for absence.

Or;

  1. NEW!! Email us – You can send an email to jst-attendance@wrdsb.ca and include the following information:
  • Subject Line: Student’s Name
  • Body of Email: Student’s name, grade, class, your name, and the reason for the absence.

Select the option that is most convenient for you. Both options are available 24/7.

Reminder: During severe weather conditions, you have the option to keep your child home from school. Please remember, you must still call the school to alert them of your child’s absence or if they will be arriving late.

Our staff, families and caregivers are partners in every student’s learning journey. We appreciate your support in ensuring that every student arrives safely to school.

Safety reminders

Thank to our families for keeping all of our students safe by having children walk their bikes, scooters, and skateboards on the school property. We appreciate your support.

We have several students with severe allergies. We are asking you to refrain from sending in peanuts and nut products. We also have a latex allergy and remind families that we cannot have latex products or latex balloons at the school.
