Dear Families,

Next week we will be enjoying our school book fair, beginning on Friday February 20th.

This past week we had a very successful Dance-a-thon and an amazing assembly on Being Kind.  Both, were a great success! Thanks to our parent volunteers and staff, who worked to make both events possible. If you haven’t done so already, please feel free to make a donation through the website or at the office.

Please enjoy your family day weekend. See you on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.

Sincerely,

Rick Saunders, Vice Principal

Attendance

Reminder to call or email the school when your child will be late or absent.

The safety and well-being of your child is an important concern for us, and making sure your child arrives to school safely is a responsibility we take very seriously. That is why all elementary schools have a Safe Arrival Program to ensure that each and every student arrives to school safely.

Parents and guardians have a responsibility to contact the school when a child will be late or absent.

You now have two ways to contact the school to report your child’s absence or late arrival:

  1. Call Us – Our Attendance Line can be reached by calling 519-748-1919 dialling extension #1. Include your child’s name (and spelling), grade, class and reason for absence.

Or;

  1. NEW!! Email us – You can send an email to jst-attendance@wrdsb.ca and include the following information:
  • Subject Line: Student’s Name
  • Body of Email: Student’s name, grade, class, your name, and the reason for the absence.

Select the option that is most convenient for you. Both options are available 24/7.

Reminder: During severe weather conditions, you have the option to keep your child home from school. Please remember, you must still call the school to alert them of your child’s absence or if they will be arriving late.

Our staff, families and caregivers are partners in every student’s learning journey. We appreciate your support in ensuring that every student arrives safely to school.

**Please note that we have sent out letters with students who have experienced an exceptional number of late arrivals to school this year.  We continue to be committed to supporting families and students, in order to build better attendance at school.

Kindergarten Registration

We are delighted to welcome your child to Kindergarten. The purpose of Kindergarten is to help build a strong foundation for learning in a safe and caring play-based environment. Kindergarten promotes the social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive development of all children. Children in Kindergarten are provided with a secure, respectful and nurturing environment, where their developmental needs can be supported through varied experiences.

We are asking that all families register their children before March 30 to ensure we have the correct number of classes for the upcoming school year. We are aiming for an additional 30 registrations to ensure we have the number of students to make those classes. Please share the registration information with your neighbours.

The online registration is open for students born in 2015 for Junior Kindergarten. Please visit this website https://www.wrdsb.ca/kindergarten/its-time-to-register/#.WJOniNIrJeM.

After you register online, please call the school to book an appointment. Appointments are available between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. You will need to bring the following documents when you come to the school to complete the registration:
