Dear Families of Jean Steckle Public School,

This week, we had reports of animals (raccoons and dogs) roaming around in our neighbourhood. Please remind your children to never approach a wild animal.

Thank you to our families who have been coming to school on time – we appreciate it! We encourage our families to arrive a few minutes before the bell so our students are in line when the bell rings at 8:30 a.m. Please remember that the fields are off-limits in the morning as this time is designated as “tarmac only“ to ensure our supervisors are able to monitor the area.

Sincerely,

Andrea Michelutti, Principal

Super Seasonal Sale

The students in 5A and 5B with the support from their teachers, Mrs. Austin and Mrs. Mushani will be hosting this year’s Super Seasonal Sale. The sale will be held on Wednesday, December 18.

It’s a perfect way for kids to go shopping for presents they want to give to their families and friends! Donating used items will keep them out of the landfill. We hope that students can catch the spirit of giving by re-gifting, re-using, recycling and knowing it feels better to give than to receive.

This weekend and next week is a great time of year to clean out your house! We are seeking gently used toys and household items (e.g., books, toys, stuffed animals, baby toys, candles, purses, bags, ties, movies, serving platters, video games rated C or E, etc.).

We are also asking for wrapping paper, lots of gift bags, tape, ribbons, bows, and name tags. We will be collecting items beginning on December 9. Please start collecting items at home.

Students will shop for gifts for family members and be proud to bring home a wrapped gift which they picked out!  Items will be priced from $0.25 to $3. It’s a fun day!

All proceeds will go to Sunbeam Lodge, a place in our community that supports children with medical issues. All leftover items will be donated to a local second-hand store.

Please bring in as many items as you can. Please drop them off in Mrs. Austin’s room or your child’s classroom.  It will make a difference in people’s lives! Thank you in advance from everyone in Mrs. Austin’s 5A class and 5B.
