Jean Steckle Update – June 9, 2016

Hello Parents/Guardians,

Here are this week’s update:

Principal Message:

I would like to thank all of our parent volunteers for making our Family Fun Night a success. It was great to see our families out in the community. I appreciate the hard work and hours of planning it took to bring this event together.

Please join us at our next school council meeting taking place on Tuesday, June 14 at 6:00 p.m. in the library.

~Andrea Michelutti

SCHOOL DAY:

We are excited to share that 85% of our students are now on School Day. Next year, all field trips, purchased items, and hot lunch orders will completed through this online portal. Mrs. Gibson will continue to call parents who have not signed up for School Day yet.

REPORT CARD INFORMATION:

Teachers will be busy the next few weeks completing the final report cards for this year. The report cards will be sent home on Monday, June 27. If your child is not at school that week, the report cards will be mailed out. Unfortunately, we will not be able to hand out report cards before June 27.

STING:

The students and staff at Jean Steckle have been trying to answer the question, “What does Sting mean?” and a few weeks ago, classes were asked to submit their answers and the teachers worked together to select our new motto. On Wednesday afternoon, the students participated in an assembly and it our new motto was shared:

S – Speak with good purpose

T – Teamwork

I – Integrity

N – Never give up

G – Gratitude

Over the next few weeks, all students will have an opportunity to create coloured posters using these terms. The winning posters will be published and shared throughout the school next year. More details will be shared with your child’s class about this contest.
