Remembrance Day at Jean Steckle PS

Thank you to our students, staff and families for an excellent Remembrance Day Ceremony. Our students demonstrated respect as they entered the gym silently. As the Enrichment Recorder club played “O’Canada,” the audience joined in and sang beautifully. Students shared their poetry to reflect on the importance of Remembrance Day and the students in Mrs. Watson’s class read the poem “In Flanders Field”.  We were honoured to have one of our teacher Mr. Coe share his experience as a Major in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve. The Jean Steckle teacher choir sang John Lennon’s “Imagine.”  The audience was touched by the speech from Sergeant Tim Poser, who served a combat tour in the Kandahar province in Afghanistan. The Grade 3 choir sang the song “Heal the World” and led the school in singing “Make a Difference.” We are proud of our students for being respectful in honouring this important day.

Thank you to Mrs. Mushani, Ms. Charlton, Mrs. Roth, and Ms. Kehler for their work in organizing this ceremony.
