NFL’s Play 60 Canada is coming to Waterloo Region on July 8.

Last year I was fortunate to be one of four schools in Canada to launch this important program which encourages children to be active for 60 minutes every day. You can view the video filmed in our region from last year’s event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pA8yUqAtStw.

When students were physically active for 60 minutes a day, I noticed a difference as the students were happier, had fewer absences, were focussed, and were calm.

It is exciting to hear that the NFL is bringing this program to our region on Saturday, July 8. I highly encourage all students to sign, participate in the day, and take a pledge to play for 60 minutes every day.

Even though you might not like football or know anything about the sport, I can promise you that all children will have a great time. The program is about being active and living a healthy lifestyle. If you are a football fan, you will have a great afternoon meeting Detroit Lions’ players and the first female assistant coach in the NFL, Dr. Jen Welter.

Please consider signing up for the event on July 8. I am hoping our students attend this program so I could bring this program to Jean Steckle next year. You can sign up following this link:

Have a great summer and continue to be active and play for 60 minutes every day!
