Dear families,

What an exciting week! We’ve had two fire drills and our second drill was perfect. We had over 1000 students, and adults on the field and our entire population was completely silent – we received praise from facility service managers and visitors to our school. Way to go, STING!

We would like to wish our custodian, Mr. Loker, the best of luck as he has been promoted to Head Custodian at Preston High in Cambridge. Our new custodian will be announced soon.

On October 31, students who are participating in Halloween may wear their costumes or Black and Orange to school first thing in the morning. The primary and junior students will participate in a parade with our older students cheering them on. For the students who are not participating, we will be provided alternative programs in the library.
Any costumes worn at school must be appropriate and respectful of others. If something is representative of a person’s culture or religious beliefs, then it should not be worn as another person’s costume. Also please be aware that, for safety reasons, we do not allow children or adults to wear masks or to carry plastic weapons. Weapons, real or fake, are not to be brought to school on any day; Halloween is not an exception.
We encourage students from bringing accessories to be left at home as they are often forgotten at school and families are not able to come back after school for missing items.
Our students come first, and we are committed to creating safe and caring school communities. On Halloween and every day, let’s continue to create an environment where every child feels included, valued and treated with dignity.

School Council has created a new Facebook page. Please join or like the Jean Steckle PS School Council page.
