Dear families,

I would like to thank our students for a great winter carnival today. The students had a great time and were able to enjoy the beautiful weather. A huge thank you to our teachers for organizing this event.

Sincerely,

Andrea Michelutti, Principal

Attendance update

The safety and well-being of your child is an important concern for us, and making sure your child arrives to school safely is a responsibility we take very seriously. That is why all elementary schools have a Safe Arrival Program to ensure that each and every student arrives to school safely.

Parents and guardians have a responsibility to contact the school when a child will be late or absent.

You now have two ways to contact the school to report your child’s absence or late arrival:

  1. Call Us – Our Attendance Line can be reached by calling 519-748-1919 dialing extension #1. Include your child’s name (and spelling), grade, class and reason for absence.

Or;

  1. Email us – You can send an email to jstattendance@wrdsb.ca and include the following information:
  • Subject Line: Student’s Name
  • Body of Email: Student’s name, grade, class, your name, and the reason for the absence.

Select the option that is most convenient for you. Both options are available 24/7.

Reminder: During severe weather conditions, you have the option to keep your child home from school. Please remember, you must still call the school to alert them of your child’s absence or if they will be arriving late.

Our staff, families and caregivers are partners in every student’s learning journey. We appreciate your support in ensuring that every student arrives safely to school.

Spotlight on Steckle

Please join us on Wednesday, March 7 for our Spotlight talent show. Performers are asked to arrive at 6:15 p.m. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:00 p.m. Looking forward to seeing our students showcase their amazing talents.

Jean Steckle Eco Bees need your help!

Greentec is an environmental fundraising program that educates our students on the importance of recycling cell phones, laptops, computers, tablets, routers and hard drives responsibly while, at the same time, raising much needed funds for important school initiatives.

We ask that you drop off your unwanted Cell Phones, laptops, computers, tablets/iPads, routers/modems and hard drives to help us raise funds that will be directly put back into green initiatives at Jean Steckle.

Greentec will wipe any data once our shipment arrives at their facility.

Greentec accepts all brands of cell phones/smart phones, laptops computers, tablets/iPads, routers/modems and hard drives.

Your support of the fundraiser sets a good example for our students as they learn about the value of recycling.

If you would like more information, please speak with our school’s fundraising Advocate Karina Meier (karina_meier@wrdsb.ca).
