Dear Families,
Another great week has come and gone here at Jean Steckle PS.
The girls’ basketball team won their semi-final game against Groh, but unfortunately lost in the final game. The girls’, and their coaches, should be very proud of a terrific season. Congratulations!
A special thanks to Ms. Haines, as our Book Fair sold $7 720.35 worth of books. Thanks to her, our customers and staff, the school will receive $2000 in order to build our school resources.
As we come to the end of the Winter, our yard and parking lot are getting busier and icier. Parents, visitors and students are reminded to take extra care. Students are reminded to avoid icy spots on the yard and to listen to safety announcements. Parents and visitors are reminded to keep our parking lot safe by encouraging students to walk to school, or by keeping our bus lane clear for a safe student pickup and drop off.
Finally, this week, we have been contacted by several families who have been concerned about an online prank called the “MOMO Challenge”. In short, this is an online prank in which users on various platforms (e.g., Facebook, Youtube, Online games etc.) are faced with a character who says disturbing things. (e.g., threats, requests that the user harm themselves etc.). We encourage families to learn more about this online issue. Spotlight:
Jadian Toros is back in our spotlight this week. Jadian has been featured in Kitchener Today (link below). He has also been on CHYM fm, and 570 News this week. This is all part of getting ready for the big premiere of “Bajillionaires” on Family Channel on March 2nd. (link below). Jadian plays the part of “Zeke” on the show. Everyone at Jean Steckle PS wishes Jadian the best of luck, as the show premieres tomorrow. Very exciting!!!!! Break a leg!!!!!
