Dear families,

We’ve had another great week. The students were busy practicing their reading, writing, and math. Our kindergarten students are learning the routines in their classrooms and having a great time with their friends.

Thank you to our families for returning the data verification forms and the release of information forms. If you haven’t already returned the forms, please send them to school on Monday.

We are accepting pictures of our students and their families for our active living board near the gym. Please send in photos showing how you remain active in our community.

This Friday, September 20, is a Professional Development Day and the school will be closed. Teachers will be working on improving instruction in Mathematics and completing health and safety programs.

Thank you for a great week.

Supervision Monitors Needed

We are looking to hire a few paid supervision monitors who would help in a kindergarten class during lunchtime. We have 2 shifts (10:30 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. to 1:50 p.m.). If you are interested in this position, please contact Andrea Michelutti in the main office. This experience is rewarding and the students love working with our supervision monitors.

Terry Fox Run

On Tuesday, September 24th, students in grades K-6 will be taking part in the annual Terry Fox School Run on our school grounds. (Rain/alternate date: Wednesday, September 25th). Students will be walking and running along a measured route, monitored by staff. Kindergarten students will have their run in the morning and Grades 1 through 6 will run in the afternoon after a short kick-off assembly.

Our school is proud to play an important role in keeping the legacy of Terry Fox going.  Students will have the opportunity to discuss and reflect on the heroic efforts of Terry over the next week as well as raise much-needed funds for cancer research.  Through our participation in the Terry Fox School Run, we hope to encourage leadership in our students and create positive agents of change in our wonderful school community.

Our school’s goal is to raise $1,000.00.

There are 2 ways to fundraise:

  1. Have your child bring in a loonie, toonie, or any spare change into their classroom to try and fill their teacher’s shoe.
  2. Donate online. It’s fast, easy and donors get a receipt immediately by email.  Simply click: http://www.terryfox.ca/JeanStecklePSKitchener and this will take you directly to our school fundraising page on the Terry Fox Foundation website.

Any amount of donation is greatly appreciated and can be brought in on or before our school run day.  In addition to fundraising, students are invited to wear red and white the day of the run to show their support.  We thank you in advance for helping in any way you can!

We are very excited to be a part of this year’s Terry Fox Run. This is our opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those who have suffered, are suffering, and will suffer because of cancer. We hope you will join us as our school community bands together in the fight against cancer. Thank you in advance for your support!
