Dear Jean Steckle families,

Well, another year is coming to an end. The last day of Distance Learning is on Friday, June 26.

Reflecting on this year, our students demonstrated STING (Speak with good purpose, teamwork, integrity, never give up, and gratitude) while at school and through Distance Learning.

As the year comes to a close, we would like to thank parents who have supported us in our work: whether reading with their children, learning how to use Google Classroom,  using School-Day, helping with hot lunches, participating in our virtual physical education programs, sharing pictures and videos of their children with their teachers, volunteering at the school, being a member of the school council or attending school events.

Thank you to the members of the Jean Steckle staff. The implementation of Distance Learning was new for all members of the teaching staff. All of the teachers implemented Google Classrooms during Distance Learning and supporting their families throughout the past few months.

There are a few staff changes as assignments come to an end and educators take on new challenges at other schools. Good-bye to Ms. Shah, Ms. Smith, Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Giles, and Mr. Saunders – all of whom have done a stellar job for the students and our school. Best of luck at your new schools.

At this time of year, we prepare to say goodbye to some of our students. To our students moving to Janet Metcalfe Public School or to a new school, remember your time at Jean Steckle P.S. You will always be a proud member of our Hive. Wishing you a great start at your new school. You have made us proud! Take your great memories of Jean Steckle Public School with you and don’t forget the lessons you have learned along the way.

To our students and families returning in the fall, we look forward to working with you again. Next year will be another amazing year!

Wishing you a great week ahead,

Andrea Michelutti, principal

Pick up of Student Belongings

Thank you to our families who were able to pick up their children’s belongings. We only have 64 out of 507 families with items still at the school. We will be calling to make arrangements for pick up. You can also come to the school on Monday morning between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. to pick up the items.

Access to the Google Classroom during the summer

On Friday, June 26 when your class ends, your teacher will archive your Google Classroom. Archiving removes the class from your Classroom homepage and puts it in a separate area making your homepage easier to manage.

When a class is archived, it is removed from your homepage. You can view its materials but you cannot submit work. For more information, please review this link: View an Archived Class

Report Cards

Report cards for students in Kindergarten to Grade 8 will be mailed out the week of June 22.

 Welcome to Kindergarten Website

This year our Welcome to Kindergarten will look different. To help our parents and future students’ prepare for school, please visit our Kindergarten Website. Please share this website with your neighbours if their children will be attending Kindergarten at Jean Steckle.
