Dear Jean Steckle families,

We would like to welcome our in-person students back. We would like to thank our students and families for their flexibility during these past few weeks. It was amazing to see our students navigate the Google Classroom and build their technology skills each day. Thank you to our families for all of your help – it is appreciated! Thank you to our educators who quickly transitioned to a new way of teaching through the Google Classroom.

We are looking forward to seeing our students as they return to school on Monday, February 8.

If you made changes to your child’s mode of learning, the transition will take place as follows:

  • Students returning to IN PERSON learning will begin on March 4
  • Students moving to DISTANCE Learning will begin on March 8. Your child’s last day of in-person learning will be on Wednesday, March 3.

What should I send to school on Monday?

  • Extra masks
  • Indoor shoes
  • If you borrowed a device, please send the device and the charging cord in with your child – the device will be sanitized at school
  • Hat, mittens, snow pants, winter jacket, and boots as our students will be going outside

Daily Reminders:

  • All students and adults must wear a mask when on school property
  • Students need to continue to practise social distancing on school property
  • Please try to come to school as close to 8:30 a.m. as possible and head to your child’s class location right away
  • The school parking lot is staff only

During Instruction Time

  • If you have scheduled an appointment for your child, please call the school from the parking lot.  Please ‘build in’ extra time for this process

End of Day Procedures

  • The parking lot is closed for pick up
  • Families are asked to remain off school property until 2:50 pm as the students are still in class until that time.  Kindergarten students will be ready for dismissal (direct handoff) at the dismissal bell

Non-essential Learning Items

  • Please remember that no outside items should be brought into the school that are not essential learning materials. This would include Valentine’s Day cards or other items.
  • A reminder that food cannot be shared/exchanged.

Have a safe weekend,

Andrea Michelutti, Proud Principal of Jean Steckle Public School
