Dear Jean Steckle families,

It’s been a fantastic week! The students did a great job returning to school and their daily routines. I am very proud of them! Thank you, parents, for your continued support.

Please note that our one week break is now scheduled for April 12 to April 16.

On Friday, we had a virtual presentation from D.O. Gibson, a Guinness World Record-setting rapper and author. He shared messages about leadership, self-confidence, and anti-bullying. H.O.L.L.A. is an acronym standing for Help, Outlet, Lead, Leave and Assert. D.O. also shared a presentation focusing on Black Canadian History. D.O. was impressed with our students’ knowledge of Black Canadian History – great work STING! For more information about this presentation, please visit D.O. Gibson’s website.

Please enjoy this Family Day weekend. We look forward to seeing our students on Tuesday.

Have a safe weekend,

Andrea Michelutti, Proud Principal of Jean Steckle Public School

Attendance

Please call or email the school when your child is late or absent.

Your child’s safety and well-being is an important concern for us, and making sure your child arrives at school safely is a responsibility we take very seriously. That is why all elementary schools have a Safe Arrival Program to ensure that each student arrives safely.

Parents and guardians have a responsibility to contact the school when a child is late or absent.

You now have two ways to contact the school to report your child’s absence or late arrival:

  1.  Call Us – Our Attendance Line can be reached by calling 519-748-1919 dialling extension #1. Include your child’s name (and spelling), grade, class and reason for absence.

Or;

  1. Email us – You can send an email to jst-attendance@wrdsb.ca and include the following information:
  • Subject Line: Student’s Name
  • Body of Email: Student’s name, grade, class, your name, and the reason for the absence.

Select the option that is most convenient for you. Both options are available 24/7.

Our staff, families, and caregivers are partners in every student’s learning journey. We appreciate your support in ensuring that every student arrives safely at school.
