Dear families,

On Friday, October 7, Jean Steckle Public School will be taking part in our very own Terry Fox Run.  Terry was a wonderful example of our STING values, especially Teamwork, Integrity, and Never Give Up. We will be speaking to students about Terry’s legacy, and are looking forward to this event continuing as a tradition at our school.

It is our goal at Jean Steckle to teach students about this famous Canadian hero, while encouraging everyone to support Terry’s dream of having every Canadian donate one dollar for Cancer research. We are asking students to take part in a challenge “Toonies for Terry”.  From Monday, October 3 to Friday, October 7, student council will be collecting donations from each classroom. Each student can bring in a toonie to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation. We are hoping to reach our goal of $1000 this year.

This will be our first school spirit day.  Students are encouraged to wear running shoes and dress in comfortable weather appropriate clothes.  They may wish to wear blue and green or any school gear to school that day.  They should also bring a water bottle and an extra snack on Friday, October 7.

We would like to thank you ahead of time for your support, and are grateful that you are helping to contribute to Terry’s dream of finding a cure. All donations will go directly to the Terry Fox Foundation.

Sincerely,

The Jean Steckle P.S. Staff
