Dear parents and guardians,
On Thursday around 3:20 p.m., students and parents reported seeing a stranger in a clown costume and two males dressed in black wearing white masks. Members of the Jean Steckle staff arrived at the pond area and searched the area for a few minutes before two police cruisers responded.
The constables searched the forested area behind the pond but could not locate the strangers. The constables met with a few children and their families to discuss the incident.
It is recommended that students and their families not overreact in the coming weeks as we approach Halloween and in light of the “clown” internet phenomenon being reported on media outlets. It is recommended that children share their concerns with their parents or a trusted adult in the school.
We encourage parents to be visible around the school and around the neighbourhood. It is all of our responsibility to maintain a safe community.
Sincerely,
Andrea Michelutti, Principal
